With almost 40 years of architectural design and planning experience, Phil has led hundreds of planning, programming and design efforts resulting in successful projects totaling over 20 million square feet. 

Phil actively leads project development for a range of project types in Healthcare, Education, Corporate, Restoration, and other focus markets. He is a positive, forward-thinking leader on every project, as well as an active and dedicated community member.    

Phil takes great pleasure in connecting people to one another, and in creating new opportunities for people, for the firm, and for the field of architecture and design. He was instrumental in founding several community programs including Greater Des Moines Leadership's Community Connects, Capital Crossroads Social Capital, the WDM Leadership Academy & Community Enrichment Foundation, AIA's Architects in Schools, Women in Architecture and Iowa Architectural Foundation initiatives.    

Phil helps RDG stay involved in the national conversation about the design field through active membership in the Design Futures Council and other high-level strategy groups. He is a licensed architect and holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Iowa State University.
