Hotel Winneshiek - Steyer's Opera House Rehabilitation
Services provided on this project:
In this major renovation project, the original two-story performance and assembly room was restored to a space for receptions, performances, assemblies, and dining. The original pressed-metal ceilings and walls were refurbished and replicated, as were historic lighting fixtures, and sets of original canvas stage scenery, dating from 1875, were incorporated as design elements in the building. Other spaces in the building are used as smaller meeting rooms. All spaces compliment and are easily accessible from the adjacent Hotel Winneshiek. Close cooperation with the State Historic Preservation Office and the Sate Fire Marshall's Office resulted in a beautiful restoration that is also safe and accessible.
Interior Design Overview:
In addition to the Opera House renovation, RDG also facilitated the interior design for the Hotel itself. By integrating a collection of antiques and artwork, each guest room provides a unique and charming retreat for guests.
