Louisiana State University - Athletic Master Plan

Baton Rouge, LA

Strategic Facilities Planning Overview:

Detailed analysis of the proposed new site showed that lack of infrastructure, extremely poor soil conditions, and very high water table was going to add 40%-50% to the cost of all projects on the new site. The resulting master plan not only accommodates the needs of athletics at reduced cost, but also is more environmentally friendly because it utilizes existing space and eliminates the construction of parking lots that only were serving a singular purpose. In addition, the plan incorporates a major pedestrian promenade ("Tiger Alley") that includes stages for performers, vendor areas, seating, and athletic champions recognition. This area will become a major gathering space for football, track & field, and basketball home events. The consolidation of LSU athletics into an "Athletic Village" allows efficient operations, economy of scale, a recruiting environment that allows for synergy within teams and between various sports.
