Mahaska Health Partnership - Hospice Serenity House

Oskaloosa, IA

Services provided on this project:

Architecture Overview:

The Hospice Serenity House is located on a parcel of land that is adjacent to the hospital, but was designed with its own identity so as to distinguish it and its services from those of the hospital. The building was positioned such that each of the 6 patient rooms enjoys northern views of a wooded pasture with the ability to enjoy nature from private balconies. Within the patient room, care has been taken to accommodate each patient and their family and friends to the greatest extent possible; some examples include: sleeping accommodations within the patient's room, wardrobe closet, and private bathing rooms. Ample space was also provided for family waiting, private consultation, chapel, library, healing gardens, family dining, and food preparation areas. The inclusion of a private garage allows family the ability to escort their loved one with the funeral director while being completely respectful of their privacy.
