Norwalk New Public Safety Facility

Norwalk, IA

Architecture Overview:

RDG’s design for a new Public Safety Building brings efficiency and much-increased space to the police and fire functions of this small community. Bringing both services under one roof allows for sharing of some spaces, where feasible. The new police headquarters, completed in 2002 as phase 1, includes state-of-the-art support and training spaces, and ample evidence storage space. Phase 2’s fire station will include 6 drive-through bays to accommodate diverse equipment needs for both urban and rural responses, increasing worker safety and efficiency when responding to calls. The fire station component of the project is currently under review for funding options.
