Architecture Overview:

RDG Planning & Design designed this cast-in-place concrete and masonry structure, four stories tall (34 feet), and approximately 6,644 square feet. The facility is designed to simulate a variety of residential, commercial, and institutional building conditions, and situations that public safety personnel will experience in the line of duty. The building is designed to accommodate NFPA training for live fire evolutions, search and rescue, laddering evolutions, vertical and horizontal ventilation, rappelling, breaching, confined space, horizontal trench ventilation, and mask confidence scenarios.

Master Planning Overview:

RDG Planning and Design worked with the Southside Regional Fire Training Center of Blackstone, Virginia to master plan a new fire training center. The new training center master plan was designed, within the departments existing confined site, utilizing the existing outdoor covered classroom and support facilities. The new master plan provides direction to erect a new Burn Building, and phase in future trench and confined space props, multiple outdoor fire props, truck pump drafting utilizing the existing water source, and a new parking area.
