Architecture Overview:

In an innovative approach to school design, RDG’s planning team focused on the goals expressed in its West Des Moines study, “Building a Learning Community for the 21st Century”: literacy, self-directed learning, continuous improvement, sustainability, diversity, and community integration. The resulting space welcomes children and adults with warm, engaging areas for interaction and learning, and a building-wide emphasis on integration and flexibility. A center for 650 pre-k - 6th grade students, this building will also be a life--ong learning center for children, parents, teachers and people from surrounding neighborhoods.
