Thanks to everyone who joined us for the design studio in July! The planning team was working on site, talking with the public about their ideas for the future, and sketching out ideas for how Dyersville and its downtown can develop in the future! We've been working over the past month developing these concepts further and better understanding the downtown and city environments.
What do you think? Tell us about the things you like, the things you love, and the things you would like to see!
Through discussions with stakeholders, meetings with the steering committee, the public survey, and current/past planning efforts, the development principles and planning goals were developed to guide the vision for Dyersville.
The Statement of Principles helps shape policies and achieve the future vision for Dyersville to:
The team continues to review and refine concepts for downtown, looking at different land uses to understand where new opportunities exist!
Thank you to those who attended the July design studio. We had many great conversations about various topics regarding the future of Dyersville. We are going to continue to gather your input and refine possible concepts to begin developing the comprehensive and downtown plans.

The Dyersville Comprehensive and Downtown Plans are underway! On June 26th, the Steering Committee met as a group for the first time. The Steering Committee includes representatives from various interest groups including community leaders, business owners, residents, and other stakeholders. The Committee will meet regularly to provide their input, ideas, and direction for what the plan needs to include and address, in addition to input events open to the public.
During the first meeting, the Committee was introduced to the process and scope of the project. More importantly, the committee identified goals and priorities for Dyersville in the next 20 years.
To get involved, (1) take the survey and (2) submit your ideas using the "Get Involved" tab!
What’s next? The project team will evaluate survey responses and input from the Steering Committee to explore new possibilities before returning on July 25th and 26th for a public concept planning studio.
Representatives from the consultant team will be in town on Monday, June 26th conducting field research, interviews, and meeting with the Steering Committee.
Feel free to stop by the Dyersville Social Center anytime between noon-1:00 p.m. to drop suggestions, learn about ways to get involved, and talk to us informally about the plans!
Welcome to PLAN DYERSVILLE !
The City of Dyersville recently began the process to create a Comprehensive Plan with the help of RDG Planning & Design. Included within the Comprehensive Plan is a Downtown Plan to provide specific recommendations for the future of downtown. We need your help to create the plan that best represents Dyersville!
A good community planning process works with community members, allowing them to look at their city carefully and collaboratively, arriving at a shared concept of the future. It provides a way for people to identify and act on those things that are most important to their city’s growth and prosperity. Overall, it's an opportunity to examine how Dyersville is today, to develop a vision for its future (10, 15, and 20 years), and to develop a road map to guide decisions and investments in order to make them a reality.
The process begins with you! Check back often for project updates and ways to get involved!
