Each year, we open our doors to a new group of summer interns who work alongside professionals in various disciplines and across multiple markets, learning directly from seasoned practitioners and getting hands-on project experience.
We’re currently looking for an intern to join our water resources team this summer and contribute to the design of spaces that reflect the unique culture and vision of each client we serve.

A day in the life of an RDG Civil Engineer isn't like a typical day in the life of any other civil engineer. That's because we aren’t your typical engineering firm — we're a diverse group of individuals united in our pursuit to create meaning together. And we're searching for an intern to join our team.
We are looking for individuals with engineering talent and great problem-solving skills who can effectively communicate project ideas and solutions to actively contribute to all phases of the project process. As a civil engineer-water resources intern, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals who've had a direct hand in writing and updating local design standards. This position collaborates with other design professionals, clients and the public in a creative environment on a broad range of unique projects.
Essential Job Functions
Programming, site analysis, schematic design, systems coordination, code research, design development, construction documents, document coordination construction observation.
Civil engineering site design (utilities, paving, grading).
Watershed planning and analysis.
Planning and designing stormwater management practices.
Stream condition evaluation and restoration.
Recreational and water trail planning and design.
Design calculation support.
Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD).
Enhance communities through stormwater enhancements, recreational areas, flood reduction, water quality improvements.
Outdoor field assessments, site visits and other evaluations.
Skill & Strengths
Organized and detail-oriented.
Ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams.
Communication skills (writing, verbal presentations).
Knowledge of hydraulic and hydrologic computational methods.
Familiarity with AutoCAD (Civil3D preferred).
Microsoft Office (preferred).
Experience with hydrologic modeling software (optional).
Experience with ArcGIS and/or ArcMap software systems (optional).
Education & Experience
Pursuing a Bachelor of Science Engineering in civil, environmental or agricultural engineering (or a related engineering field).
