Community Planning Overview:
The Kearney Housing Study involved a six-month process of data gathering, community engagement, and plan development. A total of six steering committee meetings, three public presentations, seven stakeholder group interviews, and a public survey with 1,682 respondents were conducted. The plan identified an appetite for a variety of housing types, affordable units, and a satisfaction with Kearney’s economy, public amenities, built environment, and overall quality of life. Based on these needs, various solutions - including the creation of a housing partnership, funding mechanisms, and a balanced approach of programs and projects to achieve the strategic housing goals - were recommended.
