Architecture Overview:
This building is a replacement of the existing long-term care environment on the Shell Point campus in Fort Myers, Florida. With a “defend in place” strategy for the skilled nursing residents, the entire skilled nursing operations needed to be located above the anticipated twenty-seven plus foot flood surge associated with a Category 5 hurricane. To accommodate this elevated approach to the skilled nursing operations, a medical office building with a medical clinic, therapy center, pharmacy, and meeting rooms has been designed into the first floor of this six-story building. The medical clinic will include examination spaces, wound care, triage, infusion therapy, imaging, laboratory services, and behavioral health. The therapy center will include a therapy pool, private therapy rooms, an open wellness gym with fitness equipment designed for rehab, and a mock apartment for occupational therapies. The pharmacy will be the community hub and allow for compounding of non-hazardous medications. The SNF will also feature a Day spa and include massage therapy to compliment physical and occupational restorative care.
