Lincoln is a growing city of over 285,000 people, up over 10 percent from 2010. The city has enjoyed a steady annual growth rate of over one percent for the past 30 years. Lincoln has maintained relatively affordable housing compared to similar cities, however, will need to maintain and increase the supply of quality affordable housing as the city continues to grow.
Several public, private, and non-profit partners are already working on affordable housing. This housing coordinated action plan seeks to develop a plan of action to ensure coordinated efforts and put structures in place to continue providing quality affordable housing to Lincoln’s residents.
To date, the project team has formed a resource committee to guide the process, begun market analysis, launched a survey to gather information on the housing market from a variety of residents and groups, and held nearly 30 stakeholder group interviews. Next steps include aggregating all the data, survey responses, and interview information into the final coordinated action plan. Once complete, a final stakeholder presentation will be scheduled. The final action plan is set to be released in January 2020.
