The tentative schedule below provides an overview of the events, as well as opportunities to get involved! As the project progresses, engagement opportunities may be added or shifted to ensure we hear from the maximum number of people, and ultimately create a plan that best fits with the needs in Maize.
July: Steering Committee Kick-off
The consultant team will host a kick-off meeting with the project’s Steering Committee to discuss directions and priorities for the project.
August: Public Kick-off and Focus Group Discussions – OPEN PUBLIC EVENT
This will be a public event to introduce the project and engage people in discussion. A two-day program of stakeholder group meetings will engage businesses, property owners, neighborhood residents, and others in informal conversations about the district and its potential.
September: Design Studio – OPEN PUBLIC EVENT
What is a design studio?
The consultant team is taking your ideas and beginning to design concepts for the district. The event will begin with a short orientation, followed by a self-guided tour for you to interact with planners and designers at breakout stations. You can also provide feedback on emerging ideas or draw your own. Open to all the public…stay for 15 minutes or the entire session – we want to talk with you!
October – January: Refinement of Design Studio Concepts
What is concept review?
Concepts prepared during the design studio will be posted to this website and shared with the steering committee. We encourage you to share your comments with the project team here to help us refine the plan’s concepts and recommendations.
October – January: Draft Review
Using information collected from the meetings and ideas from the public, the planning team will create drafts to share and discuss with the Steering Committee.
Early 2019: Implementation Workshop
What is an implementation workshop?
After a detailed review of the plans, concepts, and recommendations, leaders and key stakeholders will discuss strategies for implementation to make the plan a reality.
Early 2019: Open House – OPEN PUBLIC EVENT
What is an open house?
The consultant team will present the plan’s concepts and recommendations in multiple open house events at milestone points in the planning process. Displays and exhibits will be available for the public to review and provide additional comment.
