New Recreation Center design for University of Iowa is underway

RDG Planning & Design is developing plans for the new University of Iowa East Campus Recreation Center
Recruiting and retaining students is big business. So, is the more difficult prospect of meeting ’em where they are at! Universities are seizing opportunities to offer state-of-the-art campus recreation facilities, easily accessible to students. The Sports Studio at RDG Planning & Design was recently selected to master plan and design the new East Campus Recreation Center for the University of Iowa campus. This facility will expand the campus’ recreation opportunities for students on the east side of campus – closer to where they live. The 150,000 square foot facility will be shared by recreation and athletics, complimenting the existing Field house and other recreational spaces at Iowa. This new facility will accommodate drop in use by students, faculty, and staff, and it will be anchored by comprehensive aquatic and state of the art fitness components.
In Iowa, RDG Planning & Design has its stamp on higher education sports and recreation venues, with completed facilities like the new Football Practice Facility at Iowa State University, the Drake University Knapp Center, the Ron Schipper Fitness Center at Central College, and the University of Northern Iowa Wellness Recreation Center. Nationally, from its offices in Des Moines, RDG has designed athletic, recreation, and sport facilities for the University of Florida, University of Central Florida, Florida International University, University of Texas, Franklin & Marshall College, Hastings College, Milwaukee School of Engineering, University of Minnesota at Duluth, Northwestern University, Southern Methodist University, Slippery Rock University, and Montclair State University.
