RDG Honored with Landscape Design Awards
Two projects designed by RDG Planning & Design, recently received merit awards from the Iowa Chapter American Society of Landscape Architects. RDG is honored for their landscape design work on the Omaha South 24th Street project in a Non-Constructed category and the Iowa Interstate Railroad Bridge in Coralville in a Constructed Design Category. This program recognizes excellence in Landscape Architectural design, by selecting those projects relevant to design quality, functionality, environmental responsibility, and public relevance and welfare.
The Omaha South 24th Street project is currently in the planning and construction phase, intended to enhance the existing environment, to promote businesses and to elevate the experience of the pedestrians on South 24th. The streetscape will reflect the festive, nurturing and welcoming background of this historic and culturally unique district.
The Iowa Interstate Railroad Bridge replaces an old viaduct structure which was unsafe and unattractive. The new Bridge is both an attractive community gateway providing safe and pleasant space for pedestrian and vehicle passage, and it is an appealing architectural asset promoting the importance of transportation structures in the landscape. This project is a successful product of engineering and landscape architecture collaboration.
