The Positive Impact of Adopt a Stream
RDG Creek Crew cleans up small stretch of the Des Moines River
On Friday, April 25th, RDG participated in their second consecutive year of stream cleanup, an Adopt a Stream program. Members of the RDG Creek Crew walked nearly a mile of the Des Moines River – Our no-name creek (running west of the Hy-Vee at MLK and Euclid) yielded a dorm room for starters: couch, mattress, two rugs, antennae and two sets of box springs; PLUS several tires, yet another shopping cart, many lengths of pipe and gutter, a few allusions to Hazmat, and sacks and sacks of chip bags and other gunk.
And as always, thanks to Metro Waste Authority for the Adopt A Stream program and to the City of Des Moines for Trash Bash – which helped us properly handle the results of our efforts.
