Creating the WOW Factor

Two new Student Recreation Facilities designed by RDG’s Sports Studio are open, operational and generating rave reviews.

The first to open is the 115,000 square foot Student Recreation and Wellness Center for Radford University, Radford, Virginia. This facility boasts of dramatic views over the New River valley, to the Blue Ridge Mountains beyond, and provides space for combining fitness and wellness programs together under one roof.  “Your health and well-being play a great role in your learning and what you do later in life,” President Penelope W. Kyle said. “What we devised for you here is a facility that we think will engage all parts of your well-being.”


Students are excited and energized to have a much larger facility to work out and more space for people to hang out.  More on Radford’s Grand Opening  and project information.

The second facility to open is the University of Oregon’s newly expanded and renovated Student Recreation Center. Students are enjoying much needed fitness space, two-level locker room, large natatorium (two pools, one spa), climbing wall, group exercise rooms, active meeting room suite, this space creates a dynamic expanded home for student wellness and physical education for the 22,000 students of the University of Oregon. “Students feel the energy of the facility,” said Kevin Marbury, the university’s director of physical education and recreation. “It’s insane,” sophomore Laura Pierce said, standing in the new lobby Monday morning. “Insanely awesome,” Pierce’s friend and fellow sophomore, Malcolm Rowland, interrupted.
