Partnership aims to improve planning, design of senior living communities

Recently, RDG senior partner and SAGE president Mitch Elliott spoke with McKnight’s Senior Living to discuss the newly formed partnership between the Society for the Advancement of Gerontological Environments (SAGE) and J+J Flooring Group to conduct post-occupancy evaluations of senior living communities in order to improve planning and design.

“Given the significant growth and complexities of the senior living industry, more and more innovations are coming to the marketplace, and we believe that POEs are one of the most valuable tools to help further shape highly successful physical environments for seniors.”

– Mitch Elliott

The intention of the project is to provide a sustainable platform for conducting ongoing POEs of physical environments for older adults that involve collaboration among numerous stakeholders. The partnership hopes to enable SAGE to build a robust library of POEs to provide data on evidence-based design outcomes.
