RDG awarded AIA Nebraska Architectural Merit Award for Excellence in Architectural Detail

RDG has received the exciting news that the 2015 KANEKO Play exhibit received an Excellence in Architectural Detail merit award as part of the 2017 AIA Nebraska Design Awards program!

Using a multitude of interactive games, puzzles, and pieces and various height extrusions and material finishes throughout the Bow Truss and subsequent galleries, Play explored how whether at home or at work, alone or with others, play has a role in shaping a happier, more fulfilling life.

Play used Dr. Stuart Brown’s philosophy and research as a foundation for the dialogue on the importance of play and how it manifests in a variety of forms. Play sought to further that conversation with hands-on examples of how play can be nurtured, infused, and enhanced in everyday life — in the home, classroom, office, and community.

Through a longstanding collaborative partnership with KANEKO, RDG has had numerous opportunities over the years to help create a variety of community events and experiences in the downtown Omaha studio. The core Play design team consisted of four RDG employees (and many volunteers) working side-by-side with KANEKO and their collaborative partners to create this one-of-a-kind adventure.
