CSA Program – Old Tree Farm Partnership

For the past two years, RDG has partnered with Old Tree Farm to offer employees fresh local produce through a program called Community Supported Agriculture (CSA).

The CSA program is one way RDG encourages and provides opportunities for the staff to live a healthy lifestyle. Participants sign up in early spring to receive a weekly share of produce from June to October. Each share contains in-season vegetables and occasionally some fruit. This season, eight shares were purchased by 12 employees. Seven employees signed up for the additional add-on option to receive farm fresh organic eggs.

While there are many perks to the CSA program, including weekly office delivery of shares, the opportunity to experience new foods, and convenient weekly recipes, the one we hadn’t anticipated is the friendship we now have with the farmer, Mike. Knowing the person who plants, cares for, and harvests the crop creates a better connection with and appreciation for the produce. Participants look forward to the Monday afternoon deliveries and seeing what that week’s harvest brings.
