RDG Advancement in Ownership

During RDG’s annual spring stockholder’s meeting, we had the pleasure of introducing advancements in ownership with one new Principal, one new Senior Partner, six new Partners and fourteen new Stockholders. These individuals possess the expertise and the dedication to clients that enable our continued success, and we’re proud to call them RDG family!

Meet our newest Principal and Senior Partner, They are  … Innovative Leaders who continually reach higher and always deliver their absolute best.

Principal – Ron Heims, Information Technology Director

Ron joins our current  leadership team, and as RDG’s IT Director is responsible for technology strategy development and implementation firm-wide. His education and early experience in architecture gives him a unique perspective of the needs of the design industry. His love of learning and vision for the future allow him to guide RDG to effective and innovative solutions for the complex challenges of the AEC world. Ron has a strong belief in integrating systems and automating processes to create efficiencies.

Senior Partner – Michelle Karamanlis, Business Manager

Michelle serves as the Business Manager for RDG, responsible for analyzing and reporting on financial performance, overseeing accounting staff, handling audit and tax functions, managing employee data, employee benefits and internal stock sales and disbursements.  She is passionate about keeping RDG strong and healthy, with systems and processes that have integrity, efficiency, and humanity. Michelle has a Masters in Accounting from Drake University, and a Bachelors degree from the University of Houston.

Bruce Niedermyer, PLA, ASLA – Bruce is a Landscape Architect leading our Urban Design Studio. “I find great value in creating places for people to connect with one another and with the outdoors. When the environments we create can also foster education and play a role in improving the health of the public, we are that much more successful!”

Leann Pederson, CHID, IIDA – Leann is an Interior Designer primarily focused on designing healthy and appealing environments for our medical clients. “I firmly believe what I do has the ability to affect people’s health every day.”

Hilary Navratil, IIDA – Hilary is an Interior Designer working with our Corporate, Higher Education, Public Safety and Healthcare Clients.  “I enjoy blurring the line between interior design and architecture, creating well-rounded environments, down to the details. I’ve been fortunate enough to collaborate with great clients and teams within a variety of focus markets, continuing to learn from them and elevate each project from the previous one.”

Lara Slavkin, IIDA – Lara is an Interior Designer passionate and dedicated to serving seniors through innovative designs. “I so enjoy the opportunity to create spaces that allow residents to live their lives with enjoyment and enthusiasm.”

Ron Walker, AIA – Ron is a respected architect, leader and mentor, whose  career spans over four decades. He plays a leadership role in design and our project management teams.“Through design I can make positive contributions to community, quality of life, individual experiences and the environment.”

Andy Lorentzen, AIA – Andy is an Architect and project manager for our Restoration, Hospitality and Corporate studios. “Andy’s keen eye for detail and passion for historic preservation have helped him become a leading voice for urban revitalization and adaptive reuse across Iowa.”

Michael Houston – Mike uses his visionary, innovative, and collaborative passion in the planning and designing of Simulation and Academic Health Science facilities. “Respect what’s been done…think what could be done.”

Benjamin Kroll, AIA, LEED AP – Benjamin brings his enthusiasm for design excellence, from concept to detail to our Academic Health Science, Corporate, Early Learning, and various other clients. “I strive every day to positively contribute to the built environment and the human condition.”

Matt Coen, AIA – Matt is an architect and economic development consultant within our architectural studio, he focuses much of his career on community revitalization and economic development efforts. “Matt is a skilled project leader and believes that the pursuit of a shared vision is the key to a successful project outcome.”
