RDG Honored with 2022 AIA Nebraska Excellence in Design Award
The firm’s design for FNBO’s Colorado State University branch received the Interior Architecture Citation Award.
RDG Planning & Design has been honored with an AIA Nebraska Excellence in Design Award for work on FNBO’s (First National Bank Omaha) Colorado State University branch location. Conferred at this year’s Excellence in Design Gala on Friday, November 4, 2022, the award is one of several that recognizes excellence in design by local Nebraska architects and firms. RDG’s design for the branch was presented with the Interior Architecture Citation Award.
“The intent was to create a physical experience through the manipulation of familiar material as we reinterpreted the traditional bank into a town square. We’re honored that the jury recognized this project’s impact and grateful to FNBO for their collaboration on what is now an award-winning design,” said RDG Architect Benjamin Kroll, AIA.,” said RDG Architect Benjamin Kroll, AIA.
RDG’s design uses wood elements to convey authenticity and warmth and creates an open, inviting space representative of FNBO’s commitment to community and the customer experience. In their assessment of the project, the AIA Nebraska Excellence in Design Jury praised the use of wood feature elements, stating that these elements stand out “not only for their beauty and exquisite detailing but also the smart placements within the space, allowing the occupants to come into close contact with these very tactile forms.”
The AIA Nebraska Excellence in Design Awards recognizes outstanding architecture in Nebraska designed by an AIA Nebraska member. The program is an annual event for Nebraska architects who submit built and unbuilt projects for consideration in architecture, interior architecture, unbuilt and details.
