The planning team met with the St. Joseph Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee on August 24th, 2021 for a great kickoff meeting. The meeting included a presentation about the goals of the comprehensive plan and the schedule of the planning process. A discussion about "What does success mean to you?" provided wonderful future-oriented conversation to start the planning process. Below is a link to the presentation from the kickoff meeting that gives background information on comprehensive planning and the process for it.
The City of St. Joseph has begun the process of creating its first Comprehensive Plan. The plan is an important tool that will provide guidance to community leaders and decision makers for sound and efficient community growth patterns based on the vision of community stakeholders.
Citizen involvement is the cornerstone of the St. Joseph's Comprehensive Plan. A successful plan is identified not just with the elected and appointed officials of the City who adopt it, but with the entire community and its residents who will help draft it and want to see it followed and maintained. The St. Joseph Comprehensive Plan should not be considered a static document but rather the result of a continuous process to gather and evaluate information and make informed decisions based upon constantly changing conditions.
