Land Use Workshop

On November 23rd, a land use workshop and Advisory Committee meetings were held. These two workshops discussed how land uses might change and area and opportunities to focus attention on. Key ideas proposed were:

  • Connect the well loved parks and parkways to more neighborhoods to spread the parks' positive effects
  • Focus revitalizing efforts along neighborhood commercial corridors
  • Include aesthetic guidelines in the St. Joseph's zoning ordinance
  • Focus a little more on infill development rather than annexation for new housing and commercial needs
  • Potential residential infill development occurring along the Belt Highway
  • Thank you to all who attended and contributed their insight and vision to the land use workshop.

    Welcome

WELCOME TO THE ST. JOSEPH COMPREHENSIVE PLAN

The City of St. Joseph has begun the process of creating its first Comprehensive Plan. The plan is an important tool that will provide guidance to community leaders and decision makers for sound and efficient community growth patterns based on the vision of community stakeholders.

Citizen involvement is the cornerstone of the St. Joseph's Comprehensive Plan. A successful plan is identified not just with the elected and appointed officials of the City who adopt it, but with the entire community and its residents who will help draft it and want to see it followed and maintained. The St. Joseph Comprehensive Plan should not be considered a static document but rather the result of a continuous process to gather and evaluate information and make informed decisions based upon constantly changing conditions.
