The schedule below provides an overview of the events and opportunities to get involved!
November 2018: Steering Committee Kick-off
The consultant team will host a kick-off meeting with the project’s Steering Committee to discuss the launch of the plan. This committee will be meeting throughout the duration of the project.
January 2019: Focus Group Discussions
What are focus groups? The focus group meetings are a full-day program of discussions that includes businesses, property owners, neighborhood residents, and others in informal conversations about the neighborhood and its potential. If you would like to participate, contact Matt Williams at City Hall. Attend the Community Roundtable event.
January 29: Community Roundtable Event
What is the community roundtable? The community roundtable is a public event for everyone to attend. It is an opportunity to learn about the accomplishments of the previous plan and discuss priorities for the future in small group discussions.
February: Design Studio
What is a design studio? The consultant team is taking your ideas and beginning to design concepts for the future, which may include housing, street environment, development, parks, and more . The event will begin with a short orientation, followed by a self-guided tour for you to interact with planners at breakout stations. You can also provide feedback on emerging ideas or draw your own. The event is open to everyone, and you can choose to stay for 15 minutes or the entire session. We want to talk with you!
April 2019: Implementation Workshop
What is an implementation workshop? After a review of the draft concepts and recommendations, leaders and key stakeholders will discuss strategies for implementing the plan.
June 2019: Open House
What is an open house? The consultant team will present the plan’s concepts in an open house format. Displays and exhibits will be available for the public to review and provide additional comment.
July-August 2019: Approval Process
The plan will be presented for approval to City Council, Wichita-Sedgwick County Planning Metropolitan Area, and Board of County Commissioners.
