Brewster Place, located in Topeka, Kansas, has been recognized for its excellence in design, execution and commitment to building a stronger Kansas.

The Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Kansas recently announced the recipients of the 2025 State Building Awards, recognizing Brewster Place with an Award of Excellence and a 2nd Runner-Up Judges Choice Award. The annual AGC State Building Awards honor exceptional construction projects that significantly contribute to the state’s infrastructure and community development, in addition to outstanding craftsmanship and innovative design.

The Brewster Place Addition & Renovation was honored for its excellence in the Renovation Over $10 Million category. The Brewster Place leadership team partnered with RDG Planning & Design and Simpson Construction Services to renovate and expand the Brewster Place senior living community. The project involved a full interior renovation, modernized amenities and the addition of a sixth floor with new penthouse apartments, all executed while ensuring the safety and comfort of residents.

Brewster Place's resulting addition and renovation transformed the space into a community-centric environment that supports active and fulfilling resident lifestyles through thoughtful, market-responsive design. The design team focused on enhancing spaces that promote social engagement and creative enrichment. Notably, a “live to eat” dining concept was incorporated that invites residents to connect, learn and create. This renovation positions Brewster Place as a premier, active living community in Kansas.

To complete the renovation, Simpson Construction Services and RDG partnered with TD2 for structural engineering and Morrissey Engineering for mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering.

The Associated General Contractors of Kansas empowers the Kansas construction industry by providing resources, training and advocacy that strengthen the workforce, support businesses and drive innovations. Their goal is to elevate the industry, enhance safety and create opportunities for businesses and individuals to succeed.
