Dowling Catholic High School Breaks Ground on New Campus Facilities
The project, designed by RDG, will create space for a growing student population and support the school's long-term vision.
With enrollment on the rise, Dowling Catholic High School in West Des Moines, Iowa, has embarked on a significant campus expansion to improve and modernize many of the school’s oldest spaces. On May 19, 2026, representatives from Dowling Catholic and RDG Planning & Design joined project partners and community members to celebrate the groundbreaking and ground blessing.
RDG’s design creates a safer, more connected campus experience. The expansion includes a new student union, a secure main entrance, a relocated attendance office, upgraded dining areas, new athletic and wellness amenities, increased seating for school and community events and a multipurpose storm shelter that also serves as an auxiliary athletic court.
Dowling Catholic’s $76 million capital campaign, Honoring Our History, Faith in Our Future, recognizes the individuals, past and present, who have helped shape the school’s success. Once complete, the project will support enhanced educational offerings for students and faculty. To date, the school has raised more than $50 million to support construction.
