RDG's Greg Pierce has been recognized for his leadership and dedication to protecting Iowa's water and soil resources.

RDG Planning & Design proudly announces that Greg Pierce, PE, CPESC, has been named a 2024 Water Warrior by the Iowa Stormwater Education Partnership (ISWEP). Since 2022, the Water Warriors designation recognizes individuals across Iowa protecting stormwater resources. Pierce was recognized as one of two Water Warriors, alongside John Swanson of Polk County Soil and Water Conservation District, during a ceremony on October 31, 2024, at the annual iStorm Conference in Ankeny, Iowa.

Greg Pierce and John Swanson receive their Water Warrior designation from ISWEP's Loulou Dickey and Patricia Sauer.

For more than 20 years, Pierce has championed the protection and enhancement of Iowa’s water resources. His career at RDG spans numerous markets, where he has played a pivotal role in advancing best practices for stormwater management, civil site design and the preservation and restoration of stream corridors. Among his notable contributions are his authorship and updates to key technical standards, including several sections of the Iowa Stormwater Management Manual, a vital resource that aids growing communities and counties in shaping policies and ordinances to adopt effective stormwater management techniques.

Founded in 2005, ISWEP assists local communities in complying with U.S. EPA MS-4 stormwater regulations. ISWEP delivers cohesive education and outreach initiatives, empowering Iowa cities, universities, and professional firms to create effective stormwater management strategies. In 2016, the organization attained 501(c)(3) non-profit status.
