Major Senior Living Expansion Launches with Focus on Design and Resident Wellness
As part of a collaborative team, RDG Planning & Design brings human-centered interior design to Greenwood Village South’s major expansion.
Greenwood Village South (GVS), a premier Life Plan Community in Greenwood, Indiana, has officially broken ground on a major expansion project designed to support the needs and expectations of today’s older adults. Spearheaded by LCS Development, the expansion includes 42 new independent living hybrid apartments known as The Village Flats and more than 27,000 SF of commons and amenity space aimed at enhancing resident wellness and engagement. RDG Planning & Design will serve as the interior design partner for this forward-thinking project, providing interior planning, finish and furniture selection and coordination with the architectural and construction teams.
“We’re honored to be part of the Greenwood Village South team and to help bring this next phase of the community to life,” said RDG Interior Designer and Senior Partner, Kelley Hoffman, NCIDQ. “Our design is focused on helping to create warm, welcoming environments that enhance functionality and comfort in both the hybrid homes and commons spaces. These enhancements reflect a forward-thinking vision and commitment to resident well-being.”
Among the new features encompassed in the expansion are a natatorium, bistro and coffee shop, library, fitness center, 275-seat auditorium, classroom space and multiple gathering areas, all centered on creating a modern, holistic living experience. The design also incorporates a new front entrance and administrative suites to support operational growth. Construction is expected to be completed by summer 2027.
“Seeing a four-year planning effort close financing and come out of the ground in 2025 is nothing short of amazing,” said Dan Novelli, director at LCS Development. “This is truly a transformational undertaking for Greenwood Village South and a testament to the commitment of the board of directors, community team members and project partners.”
