RDG in the Media: University of Missouri-Kansas City Projects Take Shape
The University of Missouri-Kansas City shares updates on several major facility improvements, including the topping out of its new health science education project, designed by RDG.
The University of Missouri–Kansas City recently shared an update on a major milestone in its campus transformation: the topping out of the Healthcare Delivery and Innovation Building. On September 17, 2025, the final structural beam was lifted into place, marking the conclusion of the building’s structural framework and signaling a pivotal step toward its completion. Located on the corner of 25th and Charlotte Streets, south of downtown Kansas City, the building is being designed by RDG Planning & Design, alongside Clark & Enersen, who is serving as the architect of record.
UMKC is one of only 20 universities in the country where dentistry, medicine, nursing, health studies and pharmacy share a single, walkable campus, underscoring the need to continue providing opportunities for collaboration among the health sciences. The new five-story Healthcare Delivery and Innovation Building will enable the university to offer state-of-the-art education to the next generation of healthcare providers, opening the door for new and improved ways to serve patients in need, stronger collaborations with surrounding neighborhoods and greater interdisciplinary partnerships to fuel innovation and research.
Designed to support collaborative care and next-generation learning, the building combines cutting-edge technology with spaces that prioritize flexibility, daylight and human connection. The facility features digital labs, wet and dry research labs, simulation environments and tele-check-in innovations that place it at the forefront of dental and interprofessional education.
