RDG Out & About: 2023 Thriving Children, Families, and Communities Conference
Ed Buglewicz, AIA, Greg Galbreath, AIA and Molly Haas, AIA discuss designing for all at the 2023 Thriving Children, Families, and Communities Conference.
Date: Tuesday, September 19, 2023
Time: 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. (CDT)
Location: Younes Conference Center North, Kearney Nebraska
This session will walk through a day in the life of an early learning center and explore how design can impact the experiences of staff, students and their families, and even the greater community. We will consider all aspects of home-based and center-based early learning centers including public spaces, classroom layouts, activity spaces outside the classrooms, and even staff support spaces. The interweaving of these programmatic elements allows for an inclusive and engaging environment that encourages growth and learning while providing for the wellness of all users—big and small—including special considerations for infants, toddlers, preschool-age children, and mixed-age groupings.

ABOUT THE Thriving Children, Families, and Communities CONFERENCE
The Thriving Children, Families, and Communities Conference informs, engages, and motivates Nebraskans to support and implement quality early childhood programs and services in their communities. Conceived in 2018, this annual conference is a direct response to the many Nebraskans asking for assistance in responding to the growing demand for early care and education programs in their communities. According to the Nebraska Community Foundation, child care and housing top the list of priority concerns for communities across the state. The conference is held annually in Kearney, providing a central Nebraska location to help make the daylong event more accessible to everyone across the state.
