Completion date
October 2005

The North Omaha Readiness Center is a 44,500 SF facility that is the first building on a 123-acre site, master planned to include a helicopter operations, K9, Tactical Village, Fire and Tactical Training Tower, and urban driving course.

This modern facility creatively designed for Transportation and Military Police training and readiness received design awards from the American Institute of Architects Center States, Regional and AIA Nebraska. The Readiness Center includes maintenance facilities, flammable materials storage, offices, recruiting facilities, library/classroom space, a learning center, a fitness center with locker rooms, an assembly hall and training facilities. The project is designed to meet Gold SPIRIT sustainability guidelines. Extensive daylighting techniques were used to reduce energy consumption and create quality environments throughout the facility.

Force protection elements are creatively designed to meet current military regulations. The building was designed to accommodate a major addition of a public safety training facility, which was completed in 2008. The addition provided for expansion of facilities to the east of the building, without compromising the integrity of the National Guard design; creating a seamless integration between the National Guard and the City of Omaha's Public Safety Training Center.

In addition to the building, GOV parking is provided to the north of the facility for the transportation company vehicle storage. Implementation of this project involved coordination between the two separate funding sources, the Army National Guard and the city government.

The project was completed on a fast track, on time and under budget, meeting the facility program 1390/91 (less than 2% deviation) and National Guard design guidelines.
