To celebrate the parish's 50th anniversary, Our Lady's Immaculate Heart engaged RDG to work with Ken Griesemer on plans to renovate its areas for worship and replace aging building systems. Updates were made to the lighting, sound system and finishes with adjustments made to the arrangement of the sanctuary and placement of the choir.
The renovation includes a permanent area for reservation of the Blessed Sacrament and improvements to the gathering space and day chapel, along with creation of a covered drop-off and bell tower element. These elements combine to increase the feel and presence of the church as a sacred space. To evoke the historic concept of the "eighth day of creation," an octagon shape was used on the chapel floor plan. This helped to connect with the other areas of ritual, such as the baptismal font and predella steps at the altar.
