St. Mary
Catholic
Church and
School
Everything changed for the parish of St. Mary's when a catastrophic tornado swept through Joplin, Missouri, leveling the entire parish facility with the exception of the church cross.
Today the cross still stands, and the parish has resurrected itself with a new church and school designed to strengthen the parish identity and faith. Working with Fr. Justin Monaghan, parish members and Bishop James Johnston, plans call for new school facilities that will rival the public schools as well as a larger 750 seat church and parish hall. Amenities will include a state of the art storm shelter capable of together holding the entire school and church capacity.
