Renovation
RDG led the programming and design to renovate this 30 year old lab facility. The goal was to create a recruiting tool to attract the best science students and faculty to the UNO campus.
The project focused on updates to the various labs within the building, utilizing current trends in pedagogy and lab design. Following the concept of "science on display," the renovated labs provide views into the labs to showcase the work being conducted within.
As part of the lab renovations, the various building systems were replaced to provide well-conditioned and properly served academic and research spaces. In addition to updated labs, focus was also directed toward creating new collaboration and socialization spaces to encourage interaction between students and faculty throughout the day.
The project included:
Phased renovation of a three-story building involving various labs, including physics, geology, materials, geography, chemistry and biology.
Creation of new entrances, lobby and collaboration space
Replacement of all building systems
Updates to meet current building codes and ADA guidelines
