Jester Park Natural Playscape

Landscape Architecture Overview:

The Jester Park play space utilizes native materials in place of prefabricated play equipment to create a play experience for users that is unique in the Des Moines Metro area. Through multiple public and client meetings a series of values and program elements were developed to help guide the design team in the creative process. Paramount among these values were accessibility, safety and the use of indigenous materials. After several discussions it was decided that no prefabricated play structures would be a part of this play space and that materials that might be naturally occurring in the area would be used to create a series of play elements that would allow play space users to "...go over, under, around and through them."
