Adel Facade
Rehabilitation
RDG prepared plans to improve about 20 different Adel storefronts, which were reviewed and accepted by the State Historic Preservation Office.
Much of the work includes masonry repair, renovation of the upper or lower storefront windows and new canvas awnings and signage, helping return storefronts to their historic appearance. The challenge in rehabilitation is anticipating the unknown conditions hidden in these historical buildings. This project helped to jump-start investment in this classic Iowa community. The City of Adel received much of the funding for the project in grants from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program.
