The Dentons Davis Brown Remodel is a thoughtfully executed transformation that reimagines several underutilized spaces within the firm's downtown office. Tasked with enhancing functionality and user experience, RDG led the redesign to reflect Dentons' commitment to employee wellbeing, client hospitality, and a modern, purpose-driven work environment.
The project included converting a former law library into a flexible lounge, updating the client-facing kitchen with modern finishes and creating a new Wellness Room to support physical and emotional health. Each space was carefully designed to meet Dentons' goals of attracting top talent, retaining experienced staff and developing a dynamic office culture.
The design team approached this project with an eye for timeless sophistication, balancing contemporary elements with the character of the existing architecture. Inspired by Dentons' brand colors and interior finishes, the team curated a palette of textures and contrasts to create a space that feels both modern and rooted in tradition. New lighting elements feature dimmable controls to allow users to tailor the ambiance for quiet contemplation, lively gatherings, or casual collaboration.
The newly transformed lounge now functions as a communal hub for employees and visitors. This den-like space features soft seating, a pool table and areas for casual games and conversation. A striking 43-foot custom millwork installation is a visual and cultural centerpiece, showcasing the firm's accolades, personal mementos and legal texts. A nearby catering prep area and a nearly 25-foot island support events from holiday parties to retirement celebrations and offer integrated technology, flexible seating and practical storage.
In addition to social spaces, the renovation prioritized Dentons' commitment to wellness. Unused office space was converted into a wellness room for a calm, comfortable retreat featuring a recliner, height-adjustable table, refrigerator and sink. The updated kitchen, positioned near the reception area and used frequently by staff and clients, now features a clean, streamlined design. Core appliances were preserved for convenience, while cabinetry enhancements conceal clutter and ensure ADA accessibility, reinforcing Dentons' dedication to inclusion and functionality.
The Dentons Davis Brown Renovation is a powerful example of how design can reflect and reinforce an organization's identity. Each element supports Dentons' cultural values of growth, protection, operational efficiency and purpose. It is a space that embodies tradition while embracing transformation, offering employees and clients an inviting, efficient and distinctly Dentons environment.
