This Des Moines Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Plan, completed in 2019, provides the City with its first long-range plan in over twenty years. The plan's goal is to inspire the next transformative elements of the city's parks and open space system.
The Strategic Implementation Plan guides city leaders in the first 2 to 5 years following adoption, with recommendations to inform capital investments, updated level-of-service standards, the evolution of recreation services, funding and partnership opportunities, and ultimately the next generation of game-changing elements for the City of Des Moines Parks and Recreation.
