This phased project began with designing space to relocate an existing CT and add a new MRI machine, with the expectation of adding a PET/CT machine in the future.
Structural analysis was completed, and existing floor slabs under the CT were modified to accommodate the weight of the machine.
RDG coordinated logistics and details of equipment with multiple consultants, including the shielding supplier (PDC Facilities, Inc.), lighting and audio-visual, and equipment suppliers (Philips for the MRI and GE Healthcare for the CT), and also worked closely with Specialized Engineering Solutions for the MEP engineering, and NMED's physicist, who identified the necessary shielding.
Existing changing rooms were modified to assist with patient flow into the imaging suite. The project required sensitivity to safety, noise, egress, etc., during construction, as the clinic remained open throughout construction.
RDG worked hand-in-hand with the facilities project manager and clinicians to develop phasing plans for the project to support the clinic in staying open during construction.
