To compete with nearby dental programs, the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry set out to build a new bench simulation and digital simulation lab. The design team was awarded the project in February 2019 and construction completed seven months later.
The tight schedule required intense coordination with the design team, the Italy-based equipment supplier and the contractor. The project included the renovation of two existing, outdated bench simulation labs into one large simulation lab with a pinwheel station layout. The space includes imported high-tech equipment, including virtual reality Simodont Dental Trainer simulation devices, a digital design studio and 3D printing and milling machines for fabrication.
