Grant Thompson, Ph.D., PLA, is a landscape architect focused on work for the firm's Parks & Open Space Market.
Based out of RDG's Des Moines, Iowa office, Grant brings a strong background in ecology, horticulture and climate change including field and lab measurement and analysis techniques. He is deeply driven by his commitment to sustainability, which is reflected in his academic and professional endeavors where he's focused on developing solutions that protect and enrich urban ecology. Grant seeks to better the environment through his work and advocates for urban tree canopy enhancements to address both climate change and historic social inequities.
After earning a bachelor's degree in horticulture and landscape architecture from Iowa State University, Grant went on to study horticultural biology at Cornell University, where he earned both a master's and a doctoral degree. His professional involvement underlines his dedication to the advancement of sustainable urban landscapes and includes serving on the board of trustees for Trees Forever and as an active member of the Iowa Urban Tree Council, the International Society of Arboriculture and the American Society of Landscape Architects.
