RDG in the Media: CODAworx Rich Collaborations
CODAworx features The Art Studio at RDG's public art installation "Do Something GOOD for Your Neighbor" located in Fort Worth, Texas.
CODAWorx’s January 2024 issue of CODAmagazine, Rich Collaborations, showcases art commissions realized by various teams working together to achieve high quality and symbolic meaning. Highlighting works from artists and artist teams, the aim of the issue is to increase awareness among leaders in both public and private spheres about the value of public art. Included in the issue is the Art Studio at RDG’s public art installation, “Do Something GOOD for Your Neighbor,” located in Fort Worth, Texas.
Inspired by Lake Como Park's natural beauty and history, “Do Something GOOD for Your Neighbor” reflects its community’s desire to honor its past, consider the present, and reach out to future residents and visitors by expressing shared values. The Art Studio at RDG’s design for the piece was informed by community stakeholder engagement, research of the archives of The Lake Como Weekly and multiple visits to the site.
At its center, a weathering steel sculpture acts as a literal and figurative frame for the community. The ‘gap’ in the frame, bridged by the recognition of community leaders, shines a light on work that’s been accomplished while also suggesting there is more to do. Benches, which are custom carved from 100-year-old white oak, offer visitors a place to sit and reflect.
