RDG Planning & Design has been recognized with an Excellence in Interior Architecture Honor Award.

The American Institute of Architects, Central States, has recognized RDG with a 2017 Excellence in Design Award. Conferred annually, the AIA Central States Excellence in Design Awards honor and celebrate work contributions by AIA members in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma.

RDG’s recognition includes an Excellence in Interior Architecture Award for the firm’s work design of the Ervin & Smith office space in Omaha, Nebraska.

The award is one of three Honor Awards presented to design firms from The American Institute of Architects Central States region of Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma, hosted by AIA Nebraska. Projects are judged based on a variety of features, including unique design, originality, extended use attributes, sustainability, budget and use of environmental surroundings.

Jury notes: The jurors praised the restraint and minimal palette in this interior. The plywood-clad program elements and strategic pop of color become a rich space-defining moment; spaces within space are wonderfully articulated as furnishings placed within its industrial container.

The Excellence in Design program is an annual event for architects who submit built and unbuilt projects for consideration. This year, the categories for consideration include Architecture, Interior Architecture, Unbuilt, Details and Masonry. In addition, there are two categories for emerging architects and architecture students, including Unbuilt Design and Architectural Detail. Projects are judged based on a variety of features, including unique design, originality, extended use attributes, sustainability, budget and use of environmental surroundings.
