Hastings College - Morrison-Reeves Science Building

Hastings, NE

Services provided on this project:

Architecture Overview:

Serving as the center of campus for students and faculty of the various science departments, the building is designed around collaboration and student interaction. Spaces are fashioned to engage students in formal and informal dialogue. Rather than dedicated areas for technology access, the infrastructure supports student access to information from all student study and lounge areas as well as classroom and lab spaces.

Graphic Design Overview:

The concept for these interior supergraphics emphasizes the architecture design concept itself of putting science on display. The graphics exemplify the building's four studies: chemistry, biology, physics, and psychology. A person's experience begins by being greeted with biological imagery at either of the entries. The artwork continues throughout the interior with vinyl wall- and glass-applications that inspire a lively learning experience and play homage to scientific discoveries. The uniqueness of the facility required a custom display to highlight the generous donors to the Capital Campaign. The donor wall is an 8’ x 6’ molecular pattern where each donor’s name is encapsulated under a magnifying dome and put on display for inspection and study.
