St. Mary
Catholic
Church and
School
Everything changed for the parish of St. Mary's when a catastrophic tornado swept through Joplin, Missouri, leveling the entire parish facility with the exception of the church cross.
Today the cross still stands, and the parish has resurrected itself with a new church and school designed to strengthen the parish identity and faith. Working with Fr. Justin Monaghan, parish members and Bishop James Johnston, the project includes a larger 750-seat church, parish hall and new school facilities that rival the public schools. Amenities include a state of the art storm shelter capable of holding the entire school and church capacity.
