Waupaca Downtown Plan and Streetscape Design

The City of Waupaca (pop. 6,000) experiences an influx of population and spending during warmer months as people travel to the Chain O’ Lakes area. City leaders recognize that Main Street needs updating to remain competitive in the region to retain and attract customers. Also, the 100-year-old infrastructure beneath the streets needs to be replaced. The City of Waupaca retained RDG to lead a highly-participatory process to redesign Main Street and prepare concepts for private development. The plan focuses on improvements to downtown and its relationship to the river, neighborhoods, other business districts, and Chain O’ Lakes to reinforce it as a memory-making destination.
