CODAworx features The Art Studio at RDG’s art installation ‘Do Something Good for Your Neighbor.’

CODAworx’s March issue of CODAmagazine centers around social change. This issue showcases that artwork can serve as a symbol of cause, remind us of the past or alter reality.

Do Something Good for Your Neighbor is inspired by the natural beauty and rich history of Lake Como Park. The Art Studio at RDG‘s design for the plaza creates an invitation to gather and gaze both outward and inward. In the plaza’s center, a weathering steel sculpture engraved with text excerpts from The Lake Como Weekly archives acts as a frame. Benches custom carved from 100-year-old white oak offer visitors a place to sit and reflect.

Neighbors of Fort Worth aspired to showcase the unique qualities of the Lake Como Community to continue to share its story with future generations. This installation “protects the beauty of Lake Como and recognizes its community’s heritage as a profound authority for the City of Fort Worth.” Do Something Good for Your Neighbor was designed and influenced by community stakeholder engagement and archive research from Lake Como Weekly.

Do Something Good for Your Neighbor is an original artwork commissioned by and included in the public art collection of the City of Fort Worth, Texas.
