University of Connecticut Athletic Facility Wins Award
The University of Connecticut (UCONN) Athletic District Development received an honorable mention award for Larger Higher Education by the Connecticut Building Congress.
The Connecticut Building Congress (CBC) announced the winners of this year’s Project Team Awards on May 2, 2022. The annual Project Team Awards recognize outstanding building projects that exemplify project team excellence and represent the best practices in teamwork by project owners, architects, engineers, constructors and trades. Each year the CBC recognized projects whose teams have met or surpassed goals and achieved a higher project quality through close collaboration.
The University of Connecticut Athletic District Development was among the projects awarded, along with the project team of RDG Planning & Design, Daniel O’Connell’s Sons, Newman Architects, PC, BVH Integrated Services, P.C., Jaffe Holden, and Langan Engineering and Environmental Services.
Located in Storrs, Connecticut the University of Connecticut Athletic District programs and designs a new athletic destination in the west campus district of the Storrs campus. The district is home to UCONN men’s and women’s soccer, baseball and softball, and track and field throws. The district includes new spectator facilities for each sport, a shared performance center with locker rooms, offices, training areas and other support areas. The project creates a new athletic district that aids in athlete recruiting, focuses on the student-athlete and enhances the fan experience.
This year’s Project Team Awards banquet will take place on June 14, 2022, at The Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, Connecticut.
