Branding,
Wayfinding and
Signage
The logo for Gretna Crossing Park carried a unique challenge: it needed to connect with the community, align with the City of Gretna's identity and reflect elements of the YMCA, which operates key facilities within the park.
RDG approached this by referencing the City's visual identity, incorporating a simplified version of the tree found in the City's logo.To bridge the gap between the City's traditional aesthetic and the YMCA's modern energy, bold and vibrant colors were selected. These colors not only complement the YMCA brand but also reflect the park's active offerings, including sports, recreation, fishing and a dog park.
In addition to the logo design, the signage system was carefully developed to serve a wide range of users. This included monument signage for both vehicular and pedestrian navigation, pedestrian-oriented signage throughout the park, trailhead signage to orient and guide visitors, athletic field signage to support events and activities, and regulation signage to ensure safety and clarity for all park users.
Together, these elements create a cohesive, functional and visually engaging identity for Gretna Crossing Park.
