The Sorrell Center serves as the "heart" of campus, where the colleges of medicine, nursing, allied health and pharmacy gather to learn, interact and socialize. Designed around a model of interdisciplinary clinical care and education, the building features a clinical skills and simulation center, a virtual microscopy lab, 80-seat case method rooms, 200-seat lecture halls and 14 small and medium group learning rooms.
Designed around a model of interdisciplinary clinical care and education, the building features a clinical skills and simulation center, a virtual microscopy lab, 80-seat case method rooms, 200-seat lecture halls and 14 small and medium group learning rooms. Interaction spaces are strategically located throughout the building to support small group and large group gathering as well as quiet study.
Technology ranges from state-of-the-art simulation to seamless distance learning and collaboration technology. Envisioned as a catalyst for learning, students use the building from the early morning hours until late in the evening. A joint venture with HDR, the building is the first UNMC building to achieve LEED certification.
